Neurotic Wind (a Tanka)

In the wake of the recent devastating storms in the Philippines, nature’s fragility echoes through broken branches and scattered leaves. This Tanka reflects on the quiet aftermath—where hope lingers, and the question of restoration remains tenderly unanswered.

Neurotic Wind (a Tanka)

I hope – and wonder –
after the neurotic wind
shyly stops blowing:
who’ll repair the broken trees,
and rescue the orphaned leaves?

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Yes, so sad for the broken trees and the orphaned leaves. 😦
Nature shows us it’s beauty often, but sometimes we need a lesson in it’s power and importance. Humans need to be more caring and respectful of it all. We take, we use, we enjoy…we need to remember to care, to conserve, to protect, to sustain. (((HUGS))) 💙🌎💚🌍💙🌏💚
