Ex Comes Before Why

Do you get caught staring?

At an unknown person

Who returns your stare

With an angry glare

Sorry!

I was daydreaming

Inside an empty vortex

You were not in there

Nor next

My vacant gaze

Was mindlessly waiting

For my sparkling mirage

To turn into Cinderella’s carriage

Or am I?

The next ex

Before the why

A Buzzing Chime

It’s the devil in me

The curiosity of a buzzing bee

I just had to see

Your words of poetry

Writing is a conundrum

Your quill keeps attuning the drum

A humming note on every blue line

Do not worry if your rhythm is not in time

I only need to hear the chiming of your rhyme

To understand your journey’s resounding climb

Pushing Up Daisies

Featured Image Above: Taken by, Derrick Knight, and reproduced here, with his generous permission.

The Above Photos, are of my courtyard’s Osteospermum’s (Daisies)

Pushing Up Daisies

I am not crazy, nor am I lazy

I am living in a foggy haze

In the middle of this planetary maze

Am I out of phase?

When I say

This world is a dying daisy

I have abandoned my computer desk

A messy digital mirage, so grotesque

And searching the cosmos for a pink moon

Away from this dizzy burlesque

Am I out of phase?

When I say

That out there in the Milky Way

There is another pink moon

Actively interested

In growing yellow daisies

Sprinting

Today was my first day as ‘Host’ of the “Sprints” segment over on Coffee House Writers Magazine, which I shall be doing three evenings a week, and during the initial 20 minute sprint session, I wrote this appropriate piece …

Sprinting

Here I am, at my age!

Awkwardly sprinting

Writing quickly into a twenty minute page

Adrenaline pumping

Dribbling words into an empty rain gauge

Heartbeat racing

Thoughts are flying out of an unlocked cage

Calmly panicking

Between memories of love and hidden rage

Silent Moon

The Wednesday Challenge from “Weekly Prompts is: QUIET . Please go over and visit their fabulous site by clicking >> Here. .. and the poem “Silent Moon” is my response their prompt

Silent Moon

Hello!

Is anybody out there?

Watching our universe

Spinning in reverse

Am I the only one in town?

Whirling around upside down

Hello!

Is anybody listening?

To our guiding star

Playing accoustic guitar

Or am I just a lonely old moon?

Waiting to be serenaded by a lunar tune

Resonating through the universe

Singing a hallelujah verse

Lingering Songs

sometimes I wished

for love to linger longer

other times I wished

my soul was stronger

old love lingers on

within lullaby songs

is my heart right or wrong?

sometimes when the music plays on and on

I hear my angel humming along

A Slithery Moon

Hi readers and followers, today I am re-posting another “Moon”poem, but here in this introspective piece (March 2021), the moon seems to be slipping away from me …

A Slithery Moon

Sunday softy sings

Undone on the wind

For a drowning underling

Tiredness creeps in

Church bells ring

For more silent writings

Numbness drops a teaspoon

Eyes close for the afternoon

Awaiting a slithery moon
