Throwback Friday, The Last Encore (a Micro Poem)

Featured Image Above: Created by Copilot and me, A man stands at the edge of time, where the foreshore fades, and the door to the encore glows.

Today’s Throwback Friday poem (originally written in January 2024) is drawn from my upcoming book, Time Hears No Sound. It appears as the opening poem in the Micri Poem section of Chapter 10, Time’s Short Poems: Haiku, Tanka, etc.

The Last Encore

I am standing on
the diminishing foreshore
Staring at that
missing ground floor
“Like there was a door”
Between here
and the last encore

And so we stand, between here and the last encore — listening for time’s quiet applause.

Wandering Romeos (a Micro Poem)

A quiet moment in the afternoon sun, with shadows drifting and Lisa O’Neill’s “Sparkle” humming at the edges…

Micropoetry is an ultra-short form of poetry, typically under 25 words or 140 characters, blending creative brevity with precise language, sharp imagery, and emotional depth, while allowing diverse interpretations.

Wandering Romeos (a Micro Poem)

Like falling snow…
Shadows come and go.

Some have sharp claws –
Others have soft paws.

My shadow’s afterglow…
Is a château
For any wandering Romeo.

Our White Knight (a Micro Poem)

Delightful moonlight
Morning, day, and night
Timid and bright
Our wistful White Knight

Dry Eyes (a Micro Poem)

The enthusiastic blackbirds
Faithfully re-enact
Their daily rain dance
However, nature’s lingering clouds
Have forgotten how to cry

A Synchronized Dream

Micropoetry is an ultra-short form of poetry, typically under 25 words or 140 characters. It blends creative brevity with precise language, characterized by sharp imagery and emotional depth, while allowing diverse interpretations. My poem below is 24 words.

A Synchronized Dream (a Micropoem)

Today’s full moon
Caresses my eyes
And the sky’s new rainbow
Impresses me to realize
I need not apologize
For dreaming about
Tomorrow’s sunrise

Invincible Pieces

In December, my poem/verse, ‘Invincible Pieces’, will appear at the “Creative Geelong Makers Hub” in the front window gallery (Third Space) on Little Malop St. 132 Centrepoint Arcade. Geelong
The display will include “15″ artists’ interpretations of the broken jar, over various disciplines, “bringing new life and finding beauty in the damaged and discarded”…

Invincible Pieces

I, a broken ginger jar
I, have been damaged and mismanaged
