One Day, or: Bless My Soul

Today’s poem was my inspired poetic response to David’s “Sijo”, ‘Of all things, or: Bridge to nowhere’. >> https://skepticskaddish.com/2025/03/28/of-all-things-or-bridge-to-nowhere/
Over at Weekly Prompts, since it’s the last weekend of the month, “One Day” is again the monthly Prompt! To visit their fabulous site, please click on >> Here

One Day, or: Bless My Soul

Beneath our feet, there lies a common mound
Between our ears, the winds of time hear no sound
Below our eyes, the promised land cannot be found
Within our hearts, we share the lost and drowned

Beyond our souls, the world’s burial grounds
Belong to the hounds, who run the battlegrounds

Birds on Show (a Haiku)

Nature’s Birds on show
Flying the indigo sky
And among the trees

That In-between Time

The Moonwashed Weekly prompt from Eugi this week features a poem by Eugi for our inspiration:

problems left behind you
bare your soul
reach for infinity

© Eugi

That In-between Time

There
is that unique moment in time
when the horizon’s curtain comes down
and the sun’s afterglow emerges.

There
in between the mystical Twilight zone
and your evening’s bedtime nightgown.

There
where all of your world’s problems
are magically left behind you.

Do You See the Tiny Birds Too? (a Tanka)

Do You See the Tiny Birds Too? (a Tanka)

There, in the middle
Of the shady sunburnt trees
I see tiny birds
Playfully fluttering from
Gossamer webs to dry twigs

Clunes Booktown Festival, A Three Day Picture-book Story

Friday, 2.00 pm, we are packed and ready to go …

Friday, 4.30 pm: The Marquees in the town’s main street are all set up, and we organize our stall in marquee “Q.”

Saturday just before sunrise our day begins, and the Festival is only a 20-minute drive away, and we meet the other vendors in our marquee.

Below: Stacey, Helena, Hollie & Rose, and fellow poet Jacinta & her baby

And we met many more other Authors on our walks around the festival.

Sunday was not as busy as Saturday, so I had more time to wander around and I took some photos, trying to capture the festival and the town’s charming country atmosphere …

Sunday, 4.30 pm: ” The carnival was over,” and it was time for us to pack up shop and head back home.

Awkwardness

Featured Image Above; Street art, Little Malop St, CBD, Geelong

Awkwardness

Within this world’s wilderness
Beyond my ongoing tiredness

I must confess
My aging awkwardness
It’s becoming more difficult to address

Nonetheless
Life’s progress
It’s a challenging process

Throwback Friday, Volume Without Sound

Dear followers and friends of my poetry website; wishing you all, a happy and creative “WORLD POETRY DAY” …
“Let the earth bear witness” – – William B Yeats (1916)

Today’s Throwback Friday was written in January 2023
Thank you to Bartholomew >> https://bartbarkerpoet.com/2023/01/06/fraiku-not-just-a-little-shy/ for initially inspiring my “deep water thoughts” back then …

Volume Without Sound (Revised)

when I swim
at the surf beach
and dive deep down
the eerie fullness
of my silent surroundings
enhances the volume
of those submersed thoughts
floating within my mind
