It was “our”48th Anniversary on the 10th of September, and my Throwback poem was written when I was recovering from 2nd and 3rd strokes, and of course, during that time I was not allowed to drive …
Whispering Flowers (Tullawalla, page 41)
Whispering Flowers
I went shopping this morning To buy her flowers For our anniversary day A bus trip to the local florist Then I boarded another bus to the cemetery My first time on a bus carrying flowers Bouquet in hand, on I hopped You could’ve heard a pin drop Over the silence, I heard solemn whispers The men on the bus, courteously nodded And the ladies knowingly smiled Gratified, I dipped my cap in acknowledgement Then I started to sense the day’s emotions arise And with my honesty glowing, I felt proudly special

Invisible Miracles
I am neither black nor white I am not day nor night I am neither sand nor sea I am not a flower or a bee I am not wrong or right I am not heavy or light
I am Clear and free I am a cool ocean breeze I am a song we breathe I am the air from our trees I am a star above your grave I am a shy sound wave

Below is, the original introduction from my post in August 2020. “Hello dear readers, I’ve been writing this poem over the last three days, and I was struggling to obtain any rhythm between thoughts and words, then I saw a wondrous photo on Derrick Knight’s blog/website this morning, (which is my ‘Featured Image’ above), and his picture of the glorious old oak tree, immediately channeled my thoughts, into that of strength and “resilience“, and from there, my Title was formed, and my words started to become a more cohesive piece of poetry…. Thank you, Derrick, for allowing me to use this beautiful and impressive photo, with my humble little poem.” >> https://derrickjknight.com/
Please Note; “Standing Upright” appears in our book “Perceptions”, a Collaboration of Poems and Photographs from Ivor Steven and Derrick Knight (Nov 2022)
Standing Upright
My heart’s bruised from bygone blood-stones Threaded together by the spirits of old bones And there resting within my aging body’s sway I am shedding soulful droplets on sunny days
The world’s foul winds had blown me off my feet After wobbling down cold and dusty streets Then a modern medicine man came with his young tribe Re-tuning my broken pieces with rhythmical vibes And they declared my heartstrings to be plucky enough To handle tomorrow’s mystery masks and travelers’ handcuffs

That’s What Friends Are For(Cadence Anthology, by Ivor Steven)
“Help!” yelled Billy the Bee Who was stuck, knee-deep In the storm’s fallen debris “I’ll be there as quickly as my body can shuffle along” Said Charlie, the concerned caterpillar
“My tiny toes are trapped and I cannot fly free” Burbled Billy Charlie sways and cleverly uses his snout To nudge the broken branches aside And in a jiffy Billy was able to wriggle free
A relieved Billy Blessedly buzzed over Charlie “Thank you kindly for your gracious help my dear friend” “That’s what friends are for” Cheered Charlie the caterpillar
I am proud and excited to have two poems in “Prolific Pulse Press’s” new Anthology, Cadence – Life’s Poetic Rhythms. Many thanks to the editors, Lisa and Zaneta for presenting this fabulous Anthology. >> https://www.prolificpulse.com/
Description, by the Editors We take pride in showcasing these exceptional poems crafted by devoted poets. When we issued the call for submissions, we encouraged writers to contemplate the following questions: – What do you celebrate about life? – Who do you celebrate and why? – When do you feel most joyful? – How do you define joy? – Where do you find the most happiness? – How does joyfulness feel to you? – Why is it important to find joy?
The responses received were both abundant and significant. Now is the opportunity to delve into the works of these remarkable poets and experience their unique perspectives. We are grateful for all the contributions and devotion to this theme.
Flowers in the Sky(Cadence, by Ivor Steven)
Look up high Beyond yesterday’s goodbyes Until your eyes Are caressed by the sunny sky And savor the reason why Flowers strive to fly
