how high is the sky?

how warm is the air?

how strong is wind?

can we fly without?

celestial wings

how deep is the river?

how cold is the water?

how strong is the current?

why do we always need?

a search warrant

why do we still jump in?

why do we still try to swim?

do we want to know?

Foreign World(Revised)

I’ve been stuck inside this shabby carapace

Wondering if I’ll ever be able to about-face

Maybe I could borrow my angel’s wings, unfurled

Explore and travel the open foreign world

Time has come, to escape this holding place

Discovering, I’m able to find lost grace

To wander the harvest field

Now I see beyond the shield

Rid the shackles of my broken heart

Return to reality, and apply for a restart

Healthy enough to hide from prying ghouls

Free to walk past the tardy bar stools

Go flying, with all the other old fools

And paddle ankle-deep in life’s distant pools

Silent Moon

Hello!

Is anybody out there?

Watching our universe

Spinning in reverse

Am I the only one in town?

Whirling around upside down

Hello!

Is anybody listening?

To our guiding star

Playing accoustic guitar

Or am I just a lonely old moon?

Waiting to be serenaded by a lunar tune

Resonating through the universe

Singing a hallelujah verse

Sometimes and Other Times

sometimes my mind feels as big as the ocean
other times my mind is a grain of sand on the beach

sometimes I wonder how vast is this universe
other times, I am only a speck of dust dispersed

sometimes I feel my star is reaching out for me
others times I am a fish swimming alone in the sea

sometimes I hear the humming of birds and bees
other times I am deaf to the hallowed sounds of dying trees

Sometimes I see the dark side of the moon after midnight
other times I am blind to the world’s unnatural blights

sometimes I am asleep, and all I ever do is have silly dreams
other times I am awake, and only care about strawberries and cream

I resumed living last decade

Narrowly surviving gravities finality

Now, I lean against my tower’s balustrade

That overlooks an emerald valley

Echoing from my castle’s balcony

I hear Leonard Cohen’s words about life’s pagentry

Outlining the spiritual tapestry

Of commonality, morality, and vitality

A Singer Must Die

Five years ago

On that day

I cried

I cannot forget

The death of a ladies man

When he found his, sisters of mercy

On this day, hallelujah

I now, fondly remember

By the rivers dark

In the land of plenty

Strings

Today’s poem, is a piece I originally wrote in June 2017, and the words were influenced by Leonard Cohen’s song, “Show Me The Place”, and this being the 5rd anniversary of his passing, I thought it an appropriated day to re-post my poem. I’ve revised the poem a couple of times, the original title was “Violin Strings”, but overall, the meaning of my words have stayed intact.. The Featured Image above, is scanned copy from, “The Wordless Songbook”, Leonard Cohen, by George A. Walker, book cover print, (A book, in my personal library)

Strings

I’m singing a song, about you

Singing words, both wistful and true

From my heart to my soul, the veins

They’re as tight as violin strings

I needed you, to take my hand

Take my hand and show me the way

Show me the way, to a formal debut

Show me the way, into your dancing shoes

I needed you, to take my dreams

Take my dreams and show me how to behave

Show me the way, to your family home

Show me how to drink, from your holy grail

I needed you, to take my open heart

Take my heart and show me how to pray

Show me the way, into your world

Show me how to fly, in your milky way

I needed you, to write some heavenly notes

Take my violin and show me how to play

Show me the way, to your harp’s wings

Show me the way, into your heartstrings
