Intertwined

“After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality, and so on – I have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently wear – what remains? Nature remains.” ― Walt Whitman

Intertwined

Why are we deaf and blind?

How can we be so silently unkind?

Nature is not our kitchen to be redesign

Mother Earth is our holy shrine

Our one and only protective rind

All we need, is her love intertwined

Throwback Friday, Sailing By, by Ivor Steven

Good morning readers .. today the reblogg button worked .. thank you to “Sue” for her advice of trying a different channel/page

ivor20's avatarGo Dog Go Café

The original version of ‘Sailing By’ I wrote back in 2012, and this revised piece is from July 2018

Sailing By

Gone, a day, weeks, years

Gone, sailing by, lonely tears

Gone, sailing by, the good times

Gone, the years of a lifetime

What’s the difference between desire and passion?

What’s the chance of finding one in billion?

There are millions in the oceans of the world

There are thousands of beats to every new heart

What’s the difference between love and pain?

What’s the chance of falling in love again?

There are millions of stars in the Milky-Way

There are hundreds of dreams about love yesterday

What’s the difference between the sea and the sky?

What’s the chance of sharing the horizon in July?

There’s no answers to your questions

There are months of wonders in the four seasons

What’s the difference between the calm and the storm?

What’s…

Splintered Bridges

Bridges of ancient dreams spanned

On the wings of the bridled albatross

Flying over shallow lakes of delta moss

Bridges crossing from here to there

Above the worlds fractured rivers

Meandering from there to here

Connecting lonely bridal hands

Of people from far away lands

Bridges trekked by torn and splintered feet

And blooded by bomb blasted streets

Worlds Beyond Thoughts

Laws are merely guide lines

For the arrows of love to climb

Mirror mirror on the wall

Recalls our joys and falls

Behind every mask there is a weathered face

Behind every face old lines survive in place

Behind every place memories live with grace

Evil eyes lurk in veiled skies

The wisdom of native ancestors should be listened to

And not be lost to the modern ways this arrogant world

The way of modern progress

Is to leave nature shamefully undressed

Nature and renewal walk down the garden path hand in hand

I hear church bells ring

I see the mouses die

And the clouds always cry

Keep the cup full, turn the power on

And the answer will come

Like a big jigsaw puzzle

Not all the pieces will fit back

And overall the world will look the same

I cannot dwell on what has been

While I feel my blade of grass is alive and green

Above and beyond the crusty dirt

The universe is a symphonic concert

They say that the truth hurts

Beware of cold desserts

A Violet and A Blade of Grass (Revised)

I wrote this poem a year ago …

A Violet and A Blade of Grass

Years ago, I met a young lady

With hair the colour of autumn leaves

I liked her, and she liked me

And our courtship flourished rapidly

One day we were walking down by the river

Where I casually paused to pick a flower

And I gently placed the violet in her hair

She fondly smiled, and said quietly

“Open your hand, I’ve a gift for you too”

Upon my palm she tenderly placed a blade of grass

“There, that is to signify my eternal love for you”

I blushed and smile, and said proudly

“As mother nature is my witness, I love you”

“And thank you, for this blade of grass”

“I shall treasure your kindness forever”

My heart was pounding, as I steadily took her hand

And uttered the words, “Would you like to marry me”

Throwback Friday, Whispering Flowers, by Ivor Steven

The reblogg button did not work over on the “Go Dog Go Cafe” site, so I have copied & pasted to my site.. >> http://godoggocafe.com/2021/09/10/throwback-friday-whispering-flowers-by-ivor-steven/

Whispering Flowers

I went shopping this morning

To buy her flowers

For our anniversary day

A bus trip to the local florist

Then I boarded another bus to the cemetery

My first time on a bus carrying flowers

Bouquet in hand, on I hopped

You could’ve heard a pin drop

Over the silence, I heard solemn whispers

The men on the bus, courteously nodded

And the ladies knowingly smiled

Gratified, I dipped my cap in acknowledgement

Then I started to sense the day’s emotions arise

And with my honesty glowing, I felt proudly special
