G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Many historic bridges are marvels of engineering and beautiful works of art. A fantastic idea to reflect on who has crossed them over the years. Lovely poem, Ivor! β€ β€ β€
Amazing bridges trio, Ivor…photo, poem, and song/vid.
You’ve captured the “life” of bridges in powerful word-pics and emotions. Bridges have seen the best and worse in humanity.
Aren’t we Human-Beans glad there are all kinds of bridges that aid and help people in this journey we are on!
Thank you for being someone who uses your love and your words to build bridges (and not walls)! π

Thank you for the glorious quote Carolyn. .. I shall file that away β¦ I was very tired when I wrote the poem last night .. I had the thoughts, but I struggled to produce the right words .. maybe Iβll revise it in a couple of months π€πΆπππ
Thanks Ingrid … and yes I had those recent wars in mind, and now it’s the Afganhistan situation … of civilians being bombed at the airport … I just cried when I saw the news.. I started to write this piece then … but I couldn’t finish off what my mind was thinking … I still haven’t got my words right yet … maybe I’ll review my thoughts in a couple a months … It’s hard to write with tears running down my cheeks onto the keyboard … π₯β€π
Yes, I agree π³ it comes across well though, the raw emotion. So many wrongs in the world that we canβt hope to right them all. Which is the subject of a poem I have coming up soon!
Bridges imply hope for transition, even when needing repairs, splintered.
Your words had me stirred up, and then I clicked on Leonard Cohen video – one I’d not seen before, but with that voice, that vibration. Life as human seems full of befores&afters that looking back I’ve clearly bridged somehow and looking forward call with both allure and warnings that I, too, am showing some splinters. Living longer gives ever more to reflect on, less capacity to run away.
Thank you for your thoughtful comments
.. yes.. the word βbridgeβ does indeed inspire my imagination and encourage spiritual connections to both past and future souls ππ
Thank you Cindy β¦ metaphorically the world is in desperate need of connection bridgesβ¦ but here we are bombarding the bridges while refugees are fleeing π’π’π

Those final lines are like a wake-up call. It made me think of the Mostar Bridge in Bosnia.

A very, accurate, description, of the world, we are, living in, right now…the world, surely, is, a TOTAL, mess!
