Throwback Friday, Untethered

Untethered

Today’s poem “Untethered”, is also an uncaptured piece that did not make the final list for the new book “Until Eyes Hear Sound”… hmmm … and I always like to get away in my “Itmims” spacecraft …

Untethered

With my back against the setting sun

I will fly toward a placid place, not yet overrun

Where the ground is not made of buried heads and limbs

I will untether my sturdy spacecraft Itmims*

And traverse the universe to discover a new world

Another planet of wonderment, yet unfurled

Where rivers and oceans are crystal clear

And unmasked, I can breathe the atmosphere

Where flowering plains are home to sacred trees

And native fauna roam wild and free

A Torn Thesaurus

I went to the Geelong Writers monthly social meeting at the Box Office Cafe this evening … I am back home, It’s 10.30pm, I’m tired, my computer is “duck muck” again, so I thought I would a reblog of this ‘appropriate’ poem before I hit the sack

A Torn Thesaurus

With my fiddle and riddles

Here in the middle

Of this unopened universe

Time spirals in reverse

Quills fly in from cyberspace

As alien words unravel and interlace

A torn thesaurus is my database

I wonder

Have I landed in the right place?

But that does not matter

K-9’s happy with the community chatter

Doggie treats and friendly pats

And he presents his paw for more

Like a hungry beggar’s cap

Throwback Friday, Wonderment Rings True

Today I am presenting another poem that will be appearing in my new book “Until Eyes Hear Sound”. I wrote ‘Wonderment Rings True’ in September 2020, and the poem will be the opening piece in the Fantasy Section, of Chapter 9. Humour, Fantasy, Faeries, and Weird.

Wonderment Rings True

My imagination’s beaming

Alive and dreaming

Even when I’m sleeping

Tired eyes are peeping

Searching for the milky-way

Flying there, on my open sleigh

And sailing the air-waves

High above broadway

Steering my spacecraft, Itmims**

While reading The Brothers Grimm

And playing a tune on my old violin

The theme from ‘Lord of the Rings’

I’m a visionary sky Pilot

With a handful of violets

Travelling beyond a silvery moon

To float upon our blue lagoon

An Enchantresses Flower

Today’s poem is a piece I’ll be reciting at Geelong’s Lowercase Poetry open mic event tomorrow evening (Thursday)

An Enchantresses Flower

Beyond the golden horizon

Blooms a star-spangled ocean

Beware!

Beneath the sparkling whitecaps golden hour

Beckons the siren Circe with her enchantress flower

A Frollick of Forest Faeries

The mysterious Wilderness … The babbling stream … Frankie guarding the black door
Centre Photo (The babbling stream): by Derrick Knight

A Frollick of Forest Faeries

Wandering through the mysterious wilderness

I glimpsed a shimmering flicker

From within the woods somewhere

Startled, I stumbled and fell forward

There before me, was a glimmering black door

And the shiny silver padlock was ajar

Curiosity beckoned me to enter

Such a baffling anomaly

Jittering, I cautiously stepped inside

Unexpectedly, splosh, my boots became soaked

I had waded into a small babbling stream

Below a softly gurgling cascade

And there, elegantly fluttering

Above the brooks mossy rocks

A frollick of forest faeries

Magically emerged to fervently welcome me

Lines To Nowhere (Revised)

In response to Eugi’s Moonwashed Musings Photo Prompt: Skyline … To visit her fabulous site please click on >> Here

Lines To Nowhere (Revised)

As my drapes fell apart

I saw a setting eclipse

And I decided to walk

To the south side of the moon

Carrying my plastic spoon

There, a giant vanilla cheesecake

Rolled over the crusty moonscape

On a giant crumbly base

Topped with blueberries and cream

Laying here in bed, life is but a dream

The midnight skyline begins to drool

Am I a full moon’s fool?

I will meet you at our old school

Down by the empty pool

This time we will not be ridiculed

Throwback Friday, Time Travelers, original version – December 2017

For my readers, followers, friends and all those who doubt my connection to our unidentified Aliens, my “Mothership” landed for a visit today, to check-up on how I was handling the planet earth’s present dilemmas, and I’m afraid I had to report that the situation here is stagnant and quite grim.

Time Travelers (Revised)

Zap, a herculean lightning bolt precedes an astrological power surge

Traversing the cobalt skies, like gigantic electric eels

Vividly scoring chords, to hang our biblical words on

Like musical notes on lines of lost dreams and regrets

Soundwaves echoing, poles apart, going north, south, east, and west

Conducting iridescent aurora lights over our purple sunset

Vibrating quasars pulsating from deep inside outer space

Focusing on the huge magnetic Receiving Dish, signaling “An Arrival”

Recording a celestial traveler, singing with an angel’s voice

Resonating sweetly, like Handel’s, Messiah Hallelujah Chorus

Translated into the universal language of symphonic sound

Digitally simulcast and televised to the world’s population

A Super-Sonic Cosmic message to be heard loud and clear

“We have returned to your degraded planet earth

to again, bestow upon you, Peace and Goodwill

like we have done before, Eons of Millenniums ago”

Throwback Friday, Grindstone Potion … as posted on “Go Dog Go Cafe” this morning

A mystical piece of fantasy/fiction I originally wrote in July 2018, which has been revised for today’s post.

Featured Image:  Bing.  whyou.deviantart.com

Grindstone Potion (Revised)

Before I unveiled your spellbinding disguise

You had gouged out my eyes

And splintered my bones

With your sorceress stones

You did laugh and mock

Turning my soul into crushed rock

I waited at every station

Cursed, you left me in slow motion

With witches sand in my pocket

Holding onto your luckless locket

Then I cast my heart adrift in the ocean

Finally freeing myself of your grindstone potion

Arousing “Itmims”

Today’s poem is one that I wrote while attending a “Writing Circle” meeting, hosted by the talented and gracious, Ali Grimshaw … If you are interested in attending one of her fabulous on-line “Zoom Sessions”, you can visit her site by clicking on this link

Featured Image Above; my photo of my computer’s start-up screen this morning, from Windows Microsoft

Arousing “Itmims”

I hear a thunderous storm

Rumbling above

I see a chromatic sky

Illuminating my yard

I feel my romantic dreams

Arousing my Itmims* spacecraft

There ready and waiting

For time to chime in

My next mysterious rhyme

However

Time hears no commands

And silently resets her sundial’s hands

To reignite dawn’s golden strands
