When the clouds part, the sky opens its eyes — bright, unblinking, and honest. In their gaze, our own shadows feel harder to ignore.

Cats Eyes (a Haiku)
Nature’s dark disguise
Has yellow slit-pupiled eyes
Scanning our black lies

Frankie and I, settling into the calm, captured in little snapshots from our café breather.
Our Cafe to the Rescue (a Haiku)
It’s time to relax
And recoup our composure
A place without hooks

“The day’s first glow beckons me to pause, to notice, and to appreciate everything that unfolds.”
Today’s WordPress Prompt

Kissed by Daylight (a Haiku)
Out of the darkness
The sun’s glow caresses my eyes
Daylight kisses my world

Today’s Throwback Friday poem (originally written in August 2025) is drawn from my upcoming book, Time Hears No Sound. It appears as the first poem in the Haiku section of Chapter 10, Time’s Short Poems: Haiku, Tanka, etc.
Beyond Sight (a Haiku)
Good morning sunrise
I soak in daylight’s caress
Until eyes hear sound

“Sunlight, patience, and a tomato named Theo — still finding his way upward.”
Theo and the Sunflowers (a Haiku)
Tall as Jack’s beanstalk
Proudly shading the flowers
Theo grows and grows

Again, it’ll be 40 °C here today, and hopefully, the likelihood of more bushfires will be minimal.
Different Skies (a Haiku)
Storm clouds that don’t cry
Then we wonder why there is
Smoke clouds in the sky

Dry droplets upon the dunes
Thirsting for dreamland
