Mercurial Magpie (a Tanka/Tautogram)

A tautogram is a type of poem where every word in the poem starts with the same letter.

Mercurial Magpie (a Tanka/Tautogram)

Majestic magpie
Morally magniloquent
Magnanimous maid
Minstrelly melodious
Mankind’s mindful masterpiece

Winter Flowers (a Tanka)

Over at Weekly Prompts, the Weekend Challenge is Intoxicating. To visit their fabulous site, please click HERE

Winter Flowers (a Tanka)

Striving for sunlight
Winter blooms know how to catch
And absorb the warmth
From the cloudless icy sky
Without waiting for springtime

The Sigur Rós song “Með Suð Í Eyrum”—which translates to “With a Buzz in Our Ears”—is a poetic and emotionally charged exploration of sensory overload, communal struggle, and the quiet persistence of life’s deeper rhythms.

Our White Knight (a Micro Poem)

Today’s poem is a verse/comment I posted on Beth’s (I Didn’t Have My Glasses On) article on Thursday.

Our White Knight (a Micro Poem)

Delightful moonlight
Morning, day, and night
Timid and bright
Our wistful White Knight

Beyond the Mirror

Beyond the Mirror

I thought the sky
Had fallen down
There, in a ground puddle
I saw the silvery moon
Looking up at me

And then I saw the universe
In a blade of grass

Shadows and Tuxedos

Over at Weekly Prompts, this weekend is their monthly Colour Challenge, and for July, they selected the colours Black & White. To visit their fabulous site, please click / Here.

Shadows and Tuxedos

Flying low
Under the sun’s winter glow
My faithful shadow
Tiptoes across the meadow

I’m no crouching commando
Nor a flashy flamenco
I’m just an old Romeo
Flying low
In his tuxedo

Not to be Misread

Not to be Misread

Rocks in my head
Rocks sit without a sound
Rocks, not to be misread

Shadows hit the ground
Shadows sit without a sound
Shadows, not to be misread

Hope

Hope, today, and the new plant in 2017.

Hope, Philodendron selloum (Balinese Dream), has been a member of my courtyard’s fernery area for 8 years, and as you can see, the plant has large, wavy-edged, elephant ear leaves. Today, the fern stands at five feet tall and is covering a large portion of the fernery, and it’s time for “Hope” to have a trim.
