Standing On the Edge of Time

Am I dreaming

Sprawled across Saturn’s rainbow rings

Wishing

I was there

On the edge of Jupiter’s

Multicoloured volcanoes

Observing the chromatic universe

Through my kaleidoscopic eyes

I am here

Standing on the edge of time

Above Tower Hill’s dormant crater

Overlooking a picturesque valley

Of blue lakes and

Multicoloured forests

Throwback Friday, Hidden Irritations, by Ivor Steven

A short poem I wrote in October 2019, which I posted this morning on “Go Dog Go Cafe” >> http://godoggocafe.com/2022/12/02/throwback-friday-hidden-irritations-by-ivor-steven/

Hidden Irritations (Revised)

Splinters under the skin

Little wounds so thin

Do inwardly sting

And the crying children sing

From under a comforting wing

“Mom, please remove this thing”

Faerie Runnels, is in AnoMaly Street, Issue II, Published by Geelong Writers Inc.

List night Geelong Writers Inc. launched the 2nd Issue of this year’s AnoMaly Street, Chapbook Publication (Poetry with a difference), and I am honoured to have my piece “Faerie Runnels” selected in this superbly produced journal. It’s always a great thrill for me to have my poems represented in a locally produced and published book. The Below Photo/Scan shows how my poem appears in the book.

“Faeries Runnels”
also appears in new book “Perceptions”(page 41)

No One Stops the Sun From Shining

Again, thank you to Colleen for another one of her thought provoking post’s earlier today. >> https://bikecolleenbrown.wordpress.com/2022/11/30/dependent/ , and my poem here is a instant comment/reply to her wonderful article.

Featured Image Above: a poor attempt at taking a photo of the moon tonight on my iPhone.

No One Stops the Sun From Shining

I do not try to count

The universe’s brightest stars

I do not try to change

The lonely moon’s moody faces

I do not interfere or stop

The trees from growing

And I’ll never try to stop

The sun from shining

I never had cause to question her personality

We accepted our inherent differences

She was delicately soft

And lovingly compassionate

I was resiliently sturdy

And lovingly loyal

And I will not stop

The sun from shining

I’m Almost Home (a Haiku)

I’m Almost Home (a Haiku)

Could the stars be right

That life is almost perfect

Tonight’s moon agrees

Glassy Eyed

Celebrating the 50th year of Bell Park Cricket Club last night. Fifty years of memories and everlasting friendships.

Glassy Eyed

Saturday evening

The midnight hour

Whizzed by

Unbeknown

To the celebrating crowd

My friends are overly generous

And continue to make sure

My schooner is always full

I was keeping count

But that foolish tally

Is now nullified

And I am highly rarified

Sunday morning

Seven hours later

I am feeling brittlely vitrified

And glassy eyed

Upon our torn earth

Let’s sit around the camp fire

One circle of sand

A Window Stain (a Tanka)

The Tanka is a relatively new poem format for me and I think “A Window Stain” that I wrote back in January 2021 was my first Tanka.

A Window Stain, (a Tanka)

Evening tears ebb through

the window of last year’s stain

Fear closes the latch

Tonight, the moon is brighter

Today the pane is clearer
