Before the Stars Arise

A quiet moment at day’s end with a strange, familiar weight — the sky unravels into its darker self.

Before the Stars Arise

The evening’s curtain is half drawn
Long shadows spread across the lawn

The hessian horizon resembled the Dawn
As the hazy sky turned a colour fawn

Meanwhile, the bronze clouds groaned and yawned
As though they’d been wrongfully spawned and pawned

Then the world’s breath grows taut and thin
And the approaching darkness folds us in

Let the music carry the last light a little further into the evening.

Celestial Birthright

Acrux rises over the opal sea—its light, my inheritance.

In the hush of night, beneath the Southern Cross, I find myself wondering how far starlight travels—and why it feels so familiar. This poem is a reflection on cosmic legacy, distance, and the quiet claim we make on eternity.

Celestial Birthright

Tonight,
there above the horizon’s
dark blue oceans,
deep in the black opal sky,
I see the bright Acrux Star.

Then I wonder: how far away
is a million light-years from today?
And why is the star’s infinite light
eternally my birthright.

Stars Inside My Home (a Tanka)

Stars Inside My Home (a Tanka)

I’m not going blind

I am not losing my mind

My words are a song

A ballad from yesterday

About stars sharing my home
