Weekly Prompt: Word Prompt, This weeks word is, Nuisance
I didn’t think I was a nuisance
Strolling around, minding my own business
Waiting, like the rest of my crowd
A sturdy warhorse, tall and proud
Delivering parcels to and fro
Rain, hail or snow
I do the best that I can
I keep myself gleamy and clean
Always courteous and patient
Give me a push and I’ll respond
I was controlled and strong
And I didn’t mind the little-ones
I’d happily lug them around
Screaming and kicking me
I’d stand there quietly smirking
Taking all their constant abuse
From both young and old
Why did I end up here
Dumped like an alley cat
Caged like a mongrel dog
Behind this fence of cold iron
On top of the towns highest hill
Under a dripping cypress tree
How did they drag me
Up the rocky track’s steepest incline
I’m scared, abandoned and alone
My old frame is turning grey and rusty
Am I finally at the end of the line

I suppose I was using it as metaphor, and that’s good you had feelings for my shopping, I was telling my story(trolley) of my girlfriend who dumped me a couple of years ago. And I used the abandoned trolley across the road here as a prompt for my poem

I’m sorry Ivor. Relationships can be so hard.

It’s Ok, I’m over her, and my poem was metaphorically about the rise and fall of that relationship. xx

I got badly hurt
She didn’t die
There was no funeral
No burning grief
Self esteem dipped
I’ve re-floated the ship

Oh Ivor a great poetic response, I have so many thoughts about relationships. Many too old fashioned for society today. But I know with the alll of the feelings, the ups and the downs it’s worth the memory.

Aw. 😦 Such a poignant, fitting poem to express at least 2 things…the life of a shopping trolley AND the feelings in a human-bean relationship. Both dumpings make me sad. 😦
Just keep being you, Ivor! You are not a nuisance and you have so many many positives to offer in a relationship! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂

Yes poor trolley, and sad Ivor, but it was nearly 3 years ago, and I’m ok now, although that dumped trolley did inspire my poem 😉☺️… Cheers.. Happy birthday 🎂 Carolyn xx

I’m so glad you are okay now! ‘Tis painful for sure.
Cool how the trolley inspired the poem AND that the poem had two meanings!
Thank you! I’m gonna’ celebrate big today!!! 😀

Though it came from a sad place, it is a meaningful poem. We never what or who can inspire us.

I find it amazing the place that people choose to dump the trolleys. What is just as amazing is why take them in the first place, It is costing the rest of us – they are about $500 each I believe! The shops have to recoup their losses somehow so up go the prices….

Yep, it’s been there six weeks, and now it’s in behind the new construction fence. !!

I think you should introduce another trolley so they can form a relationship. Must be very lonely there all by itself! Fabulous poem Ivor.

The trolley is well caged in behind the construction fence at the moment, but that’s a cute romantic idea Peter, maybe there’s a sequel !!

If you read a few more of my comment you’ll get the gist of the double meaning of my poem, it’s quite metaphorical.

I’ve read through all the comments Ivor, and I just want to say you’re not at the end of the line. You can carry my groceries any time you like, then we can cook and eat the food together xxx

I know that feeling all too well. Unfortunately, I think we all go through it at least once in our lives. 😦

Yep, It’s happened twice in the last 3 years, and I’m still wondering why…….

I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s awful. You see this is why I don’t bother anymore. I’d rather be alone than have to be hurt again.

Sometimes I’m like that, but love is good for you, despite the pain….xx

This is true for most I suppose. I think when it come right down to it, I still truly miss my one true love.
I ended upengagged to a man after that, but that relationship was poisonous. Since then, I have purposely kept to myself. It’s just easier.
