I’m consumed by tiredness
In this healing castle of sleeplessness
Where the nightingales flitty about
Like hummingbirds in a drought
The witch-doctors come and go
With their underlings following to and fro
During the day there’s noisiness and bright lights
And life is just the same throughout the night

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Love that video. Hope you manage a good night’s rest Ivor, and a few lots of 40 winks during the day too!

The day is nearly the best time to get 40 winks. Thanks Peter

Good Morning Ivor, I hope you managed a restful night. Hospitals are such noisy places aren’t they and it’s a wonder any of us gets to sleep at all! Then when you’re finally allowed home it’s all too quiet. I bet you found that last time didn’t you. We’re never satisfied are we?
I’m about to have an early night it’s almost 10:00 PM here and I was up early today. I needed to say hello first and let you know you’re in my thoughts. I’ll catch up with you in the morning (mine). Have a peaceful day. xx 🙂

Hello again Ivor. Just after 6:30 AM here.
Hope you’ve had a good day today and like Peter said I hope you had a few chances for forty winks. Here’s hoping the MRI scan shows positive results or at least something they can easily fix and get you back on the road to recovery. 🙂

Witch-doctors
do not bulk bill.
I don’t wish
to point the bone, but
my last witch-doctor
was a bit of a dill.

I hope mine are clever
Able to fill my barrow
Full of marrow
And a good shot with bow and arrow

Ivor, my good fellow,
best get straight to bed
with a shrunken head
upon your feathered pillow.

The hospital is the worst place to try and get better. Hope you are feeling some relief.

Sleep will help your body heal so give in to its embrace and let it take you to a place of wonder free from pain. Take care my friend. Cargo plane filled with hugs on way xx

Not the easiest or best places to get rest. But I hope you manage. And I hope they manage your care!

I hope they do some good for you soon, Ivor!
I know I cannot sleep or rest well in hospital…so I feel your pain and wish you the ability to get some rest.
When I was in 3 years ago for my cancer surgery I timed that someone who worked there came into my room on the average of every 30 to 45 minutes all day and night. 😦
Find the 🙂 ‘s where ye may…in writing, resting, reading, chatting with hospital peoples, etc.
And know that we are holding you up in our love, prayers, best wishes, healing thoughts, and you know what else?! HUGS!!! of course! 🙂
