Time Needs No Command

Hello dear readers, I’m re-posting this poem, as a slightly revised edition, with the last stanza having changed around…. I thought the original was a bit sloppy….

Time Needs No Command

The white moon has fallen late

The new daytime awaits

Rollover out of dream time

Rollover to the edge of time

Leave midnight’s caressing lullaby

And discover the blue curtain sky

It’s time to stretch and yawn

It’s time to feel the misty dawn

Stand in front of time’s open hands

Stand stoically upon time’s ancient land’s

The cloudy skies of daylight do fly

As moments of time flow swiftly by

Time moves on, needing no command

The sands of time, wait for no man

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Oh, Gina thank you, I was dreaming about time last night, and how we never seem to have enough, and the dream was a happy one, going in many directions, and poem is the result…. Haha. strange, but I’m yet to analyse what I wrote, but I do that some times, I just write and write blindly away…. πŸ’™πŸŒπŸ“

      1. a stream of consciousness makes beautiful poetry.

I am going to send you a song about time that I have been listening to lately, from a movie that holds a lot of meaning to me.

      2. Yeah… I got the song, and I’ve found the movie….
And I read my poem closely , and I surprise myself sometimes……It really turned out very similar to my dream

      3. I’m pleased my poem connected for you, and read it third time, I won’t need to change anything ….. sometimes when I rush a poem through, I’ll re-edit later on….

  1. Time seems to be on the move, as always. But, we can make the most of it and use it wisely AND for fun! πŸ˜‰ I love fun! πŸ˜€
I like when dreams turn into stories or poems. I like when good dreams linger the next day and keep us company.
    HUGS!!! πŸ™‚
PS…Kermit the Frog takes the old saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun” and he turned it into “Time is fun when you’re having flies!” πŸ˜€ πŸ˜›

    1. Hi Carolyn… time is fascinating subject to write about…… I like this quote from George Harrison
β€œIt’s being here now that’s important. There’s no past and there’s no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can’t relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don’t know if there is one.”
