Lost In Space

Lost In Space

I’m leaving this land of lost grace

And flying off into space

It’s time to run-away

My airship left yesterday

Love is a stowaway in the heart

And love needs a head start

Somewhere in this universe

There’s love in the shepherd’s purse

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Very beautifully penned and eloquent. The first stanza reminds me of the song, “Rocket” by Rozwell Kid particularly the first few lines in the chorus:

“You’ve gotta get on your rocket
    Full speed ahead
    Straight towards the moon…”

I don’t know, just something it reminded me of in your poem–that feeling of escapism and being lost or adrift in a sense. I love this poem, it is very evocative to those emotions of love and perhaps being lost. These were just my thoughts on this remarkable piece. Excellent work.

  2. Sometimes spending a little time in space is a good escape for the mind, heart, and soul. 🙂 The visuals and the emotions in this poem are fabulous! I think it would make a powerful song, Ivor! I’ve read it 3 times now…and guess what…the tears have filled my eyes.
I think it’s a combo of your words and the song/vid playing in the background as I read. 🙂

PS…How are you feeling tonight, Ivor?

    1. Oh …I understand the tears, the song by Hollow Coves, is absolutely beautiful (It’s their brand new release)…. and yes definitely one of my escapism poems….. I’ve had to rest up at home for a few days, so in my space-craft I go…wooossh !! up, up, and away….
Not a bad day though, I completed 3 anthology submissions… wow… I might email you my submissions, if you’d like to have a look xx

      1. I hope the rest has helped. I was getting so physically out of sorts I started my own form of yoga. I really have enjoyed it. In addition to my bike riding of course. I hope you feel better Ivor ❤

Something to do with my salt level being unusually low..
I’m ok…. just taking it easy… while they find out the source of my problem…. 😊🤗

  3. Lovely poem – lovely song / video. At times we all need an escape from reality. I find myself happier creating short videos for a popular app. Would you believe grannie here sometimes duets with a younger gentleman from Wolf Creek – Imagine!! 🙂
