G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Very solemn and saddening. I’m getting some apocalyptic themes here, and it’s certainly not far off from today’s world. A solemn outlook of tragedy, is it not but a curse amid humanity?
Thank you Kim for your wonderful comment,.. I’ve had various different thoughts on my poem… I think that’s a good thing….. and I suppose in these sorts poems, I put forward the questions, and ask the readers think about what the answers for our future might be… 🤔🤔😉
Thank you for reading Annette, yes it’s that’s sense of oppression, or extra gravity weighing us down… and the uncertainty of what our future will be …. many people l’ve spoken to, have these feelings…. 😊🤔😎
I have been thinking similar things and asking myself similar questions.
You’ve expressed it so well, Ivor!
Of course, you know I want all of us here next year to rejoice in the positives that will come out of the struggles and loss. We must hold onto hope.
Yes….Holding On! 🙂
(((HUGS))) 🙂
Yes, I’ve lots hope…but the questions are ever present.. .. we can’t just hide our heads in the sand, and wish it’ll go away….there’s going to be lot a future planning, .. and governments are going to have to work together…..
Oh… I loved that song and video clip ‘Holding On”… it seem to suit the mood of my poem… ((hugs))
Thank you Kate… the rhythm and rhyme seemed to fit in with the words that I had jotted down from my thoughts, and then the poem started rolling along….. 😀😎
A bit depressing for a new day, don’t you think?

Hopefully we will all live cleaner, healthier, less wasteful lives and think more deeply about the consequences of our actions.

The last four lines– excellent. Fighting that sense of hopelessness in these days of lockdowns and unrest.

Great questions of angst! The sting on the apron strings is a great line! Hope we are all here still coloring in next year this time!
