G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Beautiful tribute to Carole and times of days gone by.
Thank you Nannette, I wasn’t quite sure how to express the after shock of being back home alone, after enjoying so much good company during Christmas… but I think it worked ok..😍
Thank you Claudia… I wasn’t quite sure how to express the feelings of the after-shock of being back home alone, after enjoying so much good company during Christmas… but I think it worked ok..😀😍🌏
I was a little disheartened too, now that the holidays have come and gone. Just starting to gear up for new things coming in 2021. Let’s encourage each other!
A beautiful love that is still feeding your soul.
“I am living on life’s leftovers
And leaning on her vacant shoulder” – These lines are just wonderful.
Happy New Year.
Thank you Hannah… I live by the simple words my dad told me when I was a teenager…
“Don’t set the bar too high
Don’t expect too much
Be thankful, always
Be honest to others
Be honest with yourself”
Wow, those are some really wise words and i can see that they have stuck with you. Parents are honestly so wise, it’s lucky to have such great role models in our lives 🙂
Beautiful photo, poem, and song! Pass the tissues…
A wonderful tribute to honor Carole!!! 🙂
We can all relate your poem to our own lives.
(((HUGS))) 🙂
PS…one of my older sisters played a lot of Mr. Darin singing…and she had me watch his movies (romantic/comedy movies) when I was a little girl. To this day his voice always touches my heart.
He truly had a magnificent voice…. tissues every time he sings ‘our’ song….
Although the poem is only 8 lines… I used 8 boxes of tissues…
Yes.. the after-shock of being home alone, after the fabulous family Christmas & birthday gatherings… produced these emotional words… I’ve read them over and over…. I think I “nail” my feelings perfectly… ((Hugs)) 😀😍

Living on life’s leftovers — how …. poetic. (ha!) No, really — it is such a lovely phrase! Everyone exists on the existence of the past.
