An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Sprinting
Today was my first day as ‘Host’ of the “Sprints” segment over on Coffee House Writers Magazine, which I shall be doing three evenings a week, and during the initial 20 minute sprint session, I wrote this appropriate piece …
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

You have the domination instinct, my friend. After all you have been through, you have kept that one precious thing intact. The world has neither controlled you nor tossed you around the wrestling ring of life.
How terrific, Ivor!
Keep writing! Keep sprinting! (Whether sprinting like a snail ( π ) or sprinting like a cheetah, ’tis good! Moving forward! π π )
(((HUGS))) π
PS… that song always brings tears to my eyes. And the video is so creative and memorable.
Hi Carolyn.. I have been having computer connection problems for a couple of days … thank you for lovely comments .. and I hope mine getting to you .. ((Hugs)) and woof, woof from Frankie … his tummy has settled down and he is a happy doggie again .. π€ππΆπΆ
Oh! So sorry to hear about your computer connection problems. UGHS.
You’re welcome!
I’m so glad Sir Frankie is feeling better.
I haven’t shared this with anyone online, but Coops has been ill again… π¦ his tummy. He’s on medications. If he has this again in the next month they’re gonna’ have to run a bunch of tests on him. π¦

Yep .. Here is the lyrics ..
“The Garden” .. by Flower Face
[Intro]
All live in the garden
[Verse 1]
The lights are always on in the street
So I never sleep
Myβ dreamsβ have turned toβ plastic
And they rattle in my head
Andβ now there’s concrete in the yard
Where the sunflowers used toβbe
IβthoughtβI heard yourβvoice
But it wasβonly the TV
[Pre-Chorus]
I think I’ll waste away here
I think I’ll waste away
If the world hasn’t killed me yet
Well, it’s just a matter of days
The poison ate our lungs up
And there’s not much we can do
If I could, I would get on a spaceship
And spend my last days on the moon
[Chorus]
They say they’re building us a garden
So when the birds and trees are all gone
We’ll live where the sky is golden
Bathe in artificial oceans
But if they couldn’t tap the marrow
Every river, every sparrow
Laying dead inside their cages
Without their songs, they have been wasted
They say someday we’ll find the answer
We’ll be climbing up that ladder
While they burn up in the atmosphere
We’ll be okay ’cause we’ll all live in the garden
[Outro]
I want to build a wall around you
And say that I’m the one who found you
But despite all of my virtue
I know that I’m the one who hurts you
Well, don’t you know they lie, dear?
There is no better place to find here
They packed up their things and left you
And I don’t think I can protect you
I think that I have found the answer
Yeah, I’m climbing up that ladder
And I’m taking my friends with me
And we’ll be okay ’cause we’ll all live in the garden
We get to a time in our lives, when we realize, that we don’t, have, that much time left, and, we try, to get all of what we want to share, out, into, the open, it’s only, natural…
It sounds like youβre having fun. This line resonates with me. Dribbling words into an empty rain gauge. Maybe because itβs been pouring down rain every day this week. Take good care.
Thatβs great news Ivor! What a wonderfully inspired sprinting poem! π€©
