Talking to the Moon

in my hazy bedroom

it is unexplainable

what I say to the moon

and there is that secret

unknowable connection

an unmistakable tune

received in an echoing response

from my unattainable moon

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Lovely poem, Ivor. Somehow, when I wake up in the middle of the night and go out and look at the sky, seeing the moon there lets me know all is well. I go back to sleep.

All the best to you and Frankie as you commune with the moon! ❀ ❀ ❀

  2. Ooh, this is excellent! You know I love the moon! 🌝 Your photo, poem, and song trio are over the moon, Ivor! πŸŒ› I enjoy talking to the moon. Such a good listener. 🌜 Never interrupts. Never gives bad advice. Always makes me feel heard, comforted, loved. 🌚

    1. I think it’s a new moon 🌚 on the 2nd Feb .. and he is full of listening then .. between talking to the moon and talking to Frankie during the day.. I am always occupied in conversation .. and then there’s Oscar the owl πŸ¦‰, and the happy Penguin Phillip 🐧 and I have a new little friend Sammie the snail 🐌 … I have a poem about him, but that’s at CHW for next week’s magazine β€œDo Snails Go To The Ballet?
