A Hard Floor

Today I am presenting another poem that I wrote while attending a “Writing Circle” Zoom meeting on Sunday morning, hosted by the talented and gracious, Ali Grimshaw … If you are interested in attending one of her fabulous on-line “Zoom Sessions”, you can visit her site by clicking on this link

A Hard Floor

Storms rush in, then go

High seas and undertows

My chaotic fears on show

Before the final covering snow

I will sit and hibernate

Here on a hard floor

While wintry months

Await the thaw

Only to find the exit door

Opens onto another hard floor

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. We only have 7 mins to write the poem .. here’s my polished poem, but basically the same ..
the last 2 lines have been altered to give it the alliteration .. and yes I’m happy with the result 💕😊🌏

  1. Powerful profound poem, Ivor. Great write! We can all relate. And that song is a perfect pairing. Fortunately, today…even when we are having to hibernate, we can still reach out and connect with people…we can be social even at a socially acceptable distance. 😊
    (((HUGS))) 😊
