Bloody Tears, Bloody History

Can you hear the ghosts of Sunday?

“Sunday, Bloody Sunday”

From your distant country’s

On the edge of peace and tranquility

Within your rural trees of serenity

Beyond invisible borders of rivalry

Between oblivious inequality

From the old schoolyard bully

Overseeing an avoidable atrocity

Again another “Sunday, Bloody Sunday”

How can they forget history so quickly?

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Ivor, your poem is right on target. It is painful to watch the situation unfold in Ukraine, but Ukrainian citizens have shown remarkable courage and patriotism. Both women and men who have never even held a gun before are defending their country…David fighting Goliath! Hope the story plays out the same…David killed Goliath with a slingshot.
