A Piece of Honeycomb 


 
 
life is indeed both beautiful 

and painful 

we experience caring repairs 

and shattering tears 


free to roam 

then stood upon 

a loving home 

or an empty tomb 


cold and lonesome 

a rotting piece of honeycomb 

shriveling in a nursing-home

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      5. I’m finding out I’m not young any more ,, I’ve decide to have a break from writing a poem every day, … I’ll keep blogging and I’ll repost some of my older poems .. 💙💛🌏😍 🛸🌝

  11. Aw, I needed tissues for this one, Ivor. Your heart spoke through your poem. That song is a heart-toucher, too. I love Alexander Ebert’s voice!
    Let yourself feel, take time to rest, recall the happy times. Know what?! Your beautiful heart soars like those beautiful balloons. 🙂
    I’m sitting hear listening to the rain fall while I type this comment…also, hear Coop snoring softly by my feet. It’s quite a symphonious duet! 😉

    1. Hi Coops 🐶 Frankie is sleeping too .. and was asleep all afternoon … yep I’ve worn myself out .. the last couple of weeks were very hectic for me .. I’ll post some older happier poems over the next couple of weeks .. thank you for cheering me up 😊💕🌏🛸😀🐶
