Ten years ago today, it was the “Time” that I made a “heart stopping decision”


Did Your Heart Stop Too?


Did you cry too?

When the doctors told you

She was not going to recover


Did they ask you too?

About what you already knew

It was time

To flick the switch

And dim her light


Did your heart stop too?

Knowing

You had emptied her shoes


Did you sleep there too?

During those infinite days of blue

Softly holding her hand

And not letting go


Did you weep too?

Blankly alone

In her full room

Waiting

For her last silent breath

Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  6. It’s always hard, making these, decisions, to take the ones we live off of, life-support, and yet, the, alternative for those we love, suffering longer, is, way worse than, deciding, to, pull the, plug…

  17. Ivor, a precious experience.! Twenty years ago, I felt privileged to be holding my husband’s hand in his last moments. I have never regretted respecting his wishes to not prolong his suffering. You were always there for Carole when she needed you, including in this final loving moment.

    A very sensitive and beautiful tribute to love. ❤ ❤ ❤
