Birds Walking

Birds Walking

Who would need wings

If the ground was safe all year long

A level field for the world’s bird songs

No gas-filled trenches

No bombs dropping from the sky

No fallen angels waving goodbye

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Yes, if only! Your poem is filled with such truth, power, compassion and love!
I am enjoying your poems with birds. If only the world was such that birds AND “human-birds” could sing in safety and joy every day of every year!

    PS…That song/vid is wonderful! 🙂
“On we march With a midnight song We will light our way With our lanterns on
On we march ‘Till we meet the dawn We will light our way With our lanterns on”. 🙂

    1. Yeah … another great Aussie Band … Thank you Carolyn, and the birds have inspired my poetic imagination lately … I always wonder what they think us earth bound humans, and our stupid behaviour
