A Fractured Birdbath

My back pain has been reasonably under control for 6 months, mainly due to my daily exercise routine and the two weekly visits to the Community Rehab Centre, but disappointingly I am again suffering from extreme back pain … I know I need to rest up for a few days and also keep my exercise program going, and hopefully I will be sufficiently good enough to be back to my wobbly best soon … so my time at the computer desk will be restricted and I will only do what is comfortable for me …

Featured Image Above: a photo my sister sent me this afternoon of her garden’s birdbath …

A Fractured Birdbath

I have been staggering

Sometimes stumbling

Beneath the hard rain

but I see no soft puddles

on my cobblestone path

My empty matchbox raft

Is snagged in my tubs gurgling drain

And out in the yard’s fractured birdbath

only charred snow flakes

and a dry feather-sponge remain

to soothe my back pain

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. OH NO! I’m so sorry to hear about your back pain, Ivor! Back pain is the worst! 😦
I hope you will rest and do what you need to do to feel better! Prayers and bestest wishes for your healing! β€οΈπŸ™β€οΈ

I only have a desk-top computer, so if I am having any knee pains and need to put my legs up/ recline, I can’t sit and work at it. 😦 So I understand a little bit of what you are going through.

A lovely photo of your sister’s garden birdbath. πŸ™‚

  2. Need to get that back pain managed, as, when the lowerback pain starts up, it will, hurt until you can’t even roll over in bed, and, once those muscles get too, stiff, it’ll be, all over for you, so, find some gentle, exercise to, loosen up those, back muscles, hope you recover soon, and be back on your feet, start doing some of the, easier-to-do yoga poses, I hear, they could, make your muscles, feel, less, strained. Feel better soon.
