Today at Sunrise (a Tanka)

Dawn on Anzac Day

My cousins are in Torquay

United they stand

Remembering their fathers

Peace they cry, “Lest We Forget”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Please tell Maureen thank you for sharing her photos with us! They are gorgeous! Moving our hearts. As does your Tanka. And the vid/song. I’m crying tears of sadness and tears of gratitude.
    Yes, we must never forget!

  2. awesome post Ivor, nice tanka, great photo share from your cousin and that video is just awesome! The dawn service here was the best I’ve been to yet. Captain Elizabeth gave a meaningful speech straight from the heart! Take care
