Here I Am, Eleven Years On 


here I am shuffling on 

the same old yellow brick road 

that I wandered on eleven years ago 


here I am running from 

the same old dark storm 

that I escaped from eleven years ago 


here I am blushing under  

the same old halfmoon 

that I sheltered under eleven years ago 


here I am dreaming about 

the same old red head 

that I dreamed about eleven years ago

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  11. Been there, done that, yet life goes on and we adapt to the changes.
    For me, ten years will have gone by on the 2nd June. I’m guessing that like me you’ll be thinking how can that possibly be?
    I’m glad you had such a wonderful week with your cousins. 🙂

It’s, especially, difficult, whenever the, anniversary of the deaths someone whom we love and care about arrives, and, we would, feel sad, about, losing our, loved ones, but, as we focus on the memories of love that we share with, that certain someone, somehow, that makes, the day, a bit, easier, to, get, through.

  17. This is beautiful Ivor and a wonderful tribute to her memory, which I’m sure will never fade. She would be proud and will always live on in your heart and mind.
