Forever is a Long Time




I received some special news during the week

A thing that happens to most books and their authors

But for this old poet the occurrence has extra significance

My wonderful editor/publisher, Judy

Deposited my books, Tullawalla and Perceptions

With the Australian National Library, for archiving


The books and me (Ivor Steven) as the author

Are now forever a part of Australia’s Artistic history

Not bad for the descendant of a convict

Yessiree!

I can almost hear them cheering and clapping

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. Maybe that’s who Dickens based his characters on in the Oliver Twist book! 😂
        I hope he found a good life waiting for him in Australia, as did another of Dicken’s characters, Magwitch in Great Expectations!
        There’s a poem waiting somewhere in your story – rags to riches! 😊

      4. I think 1834, he was in his 40’s when he got out … Port Arthur was an awful place, to live through that was a feat in itself… 🤗😍🌏

      5. So interesting, Ivor. I can’t even imagine how horrific these places were, and for many the crimes were petty, and were committed because they were too poor to eat.
