Why Do We Write? (a Quote)

“The world caresses our eyes

every day until we die.

We write to arouse idle mind’s

and soothe hearts with our soulful finds” … Ivor Steven

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Yes, every day we experience something that we want to write about. Also, with our writing we may be able to comfort someone who’s in distress.
    “Why do we write?”
Thank you, Ivor, for asking this question. πŸ™‚
I like your answer that you came up with in your poem.
I think, maybe we like to write for special people like we want to talk to special people? πŸ™‚
But I think everybody is special somehow. It is good to get to know people and find out who they really are, and then think about it in our writing?

    1. Thank you kindly Yuta … I really enjoyed your interpretation of my ‘Quote/poem’, and wonderful comments …. I so enjoy communicating with people through my poetry, and if my words manage to someone, then I feel my writings have achieved something … πŸ€—πŸ˜

  2. Thank you so much, dear Ivor, for your very kind words! πŸ™‚
I hope, that I can always do some writing, even if I should keep living till I am 100! πŸ™‚
As a very elderly person, I have slowed down a real lot already. Probably I am soon going to slow down more and more! Still, it is good to know, that here and there I am able to do some communicating. And it is indeed wonderful, if one gets a lovely response! πŸ™‚
Many, many thanks, dear Ivor. πŸ₯°πŸ€—❀

  3. I did as I always do…I hit play on the song/vid and it played while I read your writing…the combo of these two made me smile, but, also, brought some joy-tears.
Keep writing, Ivor! I don’t think you will ever fully know how positively your writing impacts so many of us…yes, you soothe our hearts, and so much more. Thank you!
