An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Throwback Friday, Shadows Fall (a Musette)
Today I am presenting another poem that will be appearing in my new book “UntilEye Eyes Hear Sound”. The ‘Musette’ is also a relatively new poem format for me, (thank you to Ryan, >> https://daysofstone.com/, for introducing me to the Musette format), and “Shadows Fall” is a poem I wrote in February 2023, and it will be an exciting piece in the ‘Others’ section ofChapter 10. Short Poems: Haiku, Senryu, Tanka, and Others
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

A magnificent musette, Ivor! Well done! 🙂
And that Mr. Cave song always fascinates me…the first lines of each verse capture me in, wanting to know more. 🙂 It gets my brain in gear. I see it as a tribute to artists, a recognition of their struggles, and their longing for inspiration…it, also, makes me think about the relationship between an artist/writer and their art…and how they can suffer for their art.

Thanks Ryan … I’ve only done a few Musettes but this one seemed good enough for my new book

Most definitely. It’s such a lovely form. My go to when I just can’t fit an idea into a haiku or tanka

I like the format and I’m sure I’ll be doing them more in the future.
