Flying Bricks of War

There is a divisive brick wall

That stands harsh and tall

To stop people from breaking their fall

Then the leaders in ivory towers

Ceased talking about peace and flowers

And hurled bricks into that sandy strip

One brick after another brick

Flew from one side to the other

Smashing innocent children and mothers

Flying bricks crumbling into dust

Creating dirty clouds of mistrust

The walls of Babylon fell again

As brick upon brick crushed human brains

Brick upon brick filled the bloody drains

Brick upon brick killed and maimed

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Ivor’s Inspiration

    Brick by brick
    I built my wall
    Thinking it could never fall
It’s hatred hardened, I was told
Would be a message to behold
To keep the vermin from my bed
And keep my money there instead

Yet pain’s desire is harder still
    It’s wind and rain
    in storms until
My wall was just a buried rock
And birds in grass above did flock
To feast among the lumpy dunes
And sing their songs unto the moon

  2. It’s, always, the, ordinary people who get impacted hardest in the wars, while the government, its officials, sit, high up, inside that, ivory tower, with, no awareness, of how the people are, living in a state of, purgatory.

      1. The sad part is that most Palestinians in the Gaza dislike their violent rulers and just want to live in peace with their neighbours.
Hamas knew that Israel would retaliate and avenge threefold after such a despicable act of violence against Jewish civilians.

      2. War is an appalling thing to happen to the ordinary people, to have their lives torn apart by this is heartbreaking; but Hamas are recognised the world over as terrorists, rapists and murderers, they don’t use the rules of war.

Israel didn’t have a choice, they had to avenge the terror attack.. At least Israel gave a warning in an effort to save the innocents.

I feel deeply for the families caught up in this conflict.
