I Slither Forward

Hello dear readers and followers, many of you know that I have recently been diagnosed with having diabetes, and lately my general tiredness is becoming exhausting … and regretfully I will not be actively blogging with my normal enthusiastic zest … My recovery is a steady and slow process and I definitely need a break from my extremely busy blogging programs … hopefully I will be able to resume ‘soonerer than laterer’ …





I Slither Forward




Today, I am moving slowly

Slower than Steve the Snail

Slithering over the morning dew


For every slippery slide forward

There are two shuffles back


Improvement is at a standstill

Impatience is hard to pacify


I am swaying like a rusty gate

Creaking and groaning in a lazy breeze


But I am steadily swinging into the gear

And step by step, I shall find my way

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Because, we’d moved, way too fast, hurrying through, everything in our lives, that’s why, fate deals us, the, unfortunate, hand of, these, illnesses, to remind us, not to, ram around, like, headless, chickens, reminding us, to, slow our, paces down. And we best, take these, “warnings”, seriously, or, else, we are, bound to pay, an, even, higher, price!

  7. Gosh! Both levels are a bit high, I’m assuming the lower of the two was before the meal.
    I’m so glad you have decided to rest more, and I know how hard it is to cut down on blogging when it has become a stylestyle. I hope the appointment with the doctor goes well. You’ll be fine when they find the right level/adjustment of medication for you, my husband began to feel better and so will you. 🙂 🤗

  8. Your health is paramount, Ivor, and as much as you will be missed blogging at your usual pace, it is understandable. Take the time you need to regain your strength and we’ll all be here when you’re up and running at full speed. Take good care, dear Ivor! 🌹

  12. Please please please rest, take care of yourself and keep letting Steve be a good example that taking it slow is okay. And you are so right…step by step you WILL find your pace and your way.
    We care about you and want you healthy. Blogging can wait. We are here cheering you on…sending love and prayers for you! It won’t be long and your body will adjust and adapt.

    1. Frankie is a curious doggie … and always wants to know what I am doing 🐶 … yes I’m not blogging much at all, as you know the process can be very tiring … haha I wrote another ‘snail’ poem today… about ‘Richard’ the snail 🐌 in search of the Holy Grail 😊🌏😍🐶💙
