A Butterfly Parade

The butterflies were everywhere

A Butterfly Parade

I was admiring the view

Along Nature’s Avenue

When I stumbled upon

A flickering band of white light

A wondrous silky cloud

Of fluttering butterflies

They were everywhere

Unflaggingly flying

Hither and thither

A quivering milky river

The sunshine’s zither kisser

Wings humming a choral melody

A pearly parade, poised, ready to deliver

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. YAY! How wonderful, Ivor!
I’ve seen something similar. It was when the monarch butterflies were migrating near our home in CA! It was an amazing sight! Hundreds and hundreds of them!
Your photos are beautiful, your poem is glorious, and your song choice is superb! Thank you for the smiles! 🙂

  2. I’ve seen this several times in my youth. Usually after a hurricane or just before one, unfortunately. Millions of monarchs would be blown off course.
I always considered it something breathtaking. Loved the pics and the poem, Ivor. 👏👏💜
