My Wings Need No Alibi (a Tanka)

Over at Weekly Prompts, the Wednesday Challenge is: Streets. You may visit their fabulous site by clicking on >> Here. – – My Tanka is about flying in the sky, and I imagine the sky can be considered our “one big aerial street”

My Wings Need No Alibi (a Tanka)

Poised, ready to leap

Into the world’s blameless sky

Where his wings don’t hide

From needing an alibi

To fly freely and in peace

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Oh, Ivor, this is a sublime poem! I love it! And the sky one big aerial street! Perfection! šŸ™‚
All your wing-ed friend photos are lovely! And that song/vid is, too! šŸ™‚

I think all of us human-beans have actually wished for real-wing-wings…to really fly-fly. šŸ™‚

But the wonderful thing is even when we don’t know where life is headed, what will happen next, we can emotionally and spiritually unfold our wings in preparation to soar above the struggles and the pain. As long as we are willing to “unfold our wings” (let go of the things that weigh us down), “the wind” (love, friends, positivity, an attitude of gratitude, hope, faith, poetry, music, ETC) can lift us up and help us soar. šŸ™‚
