Is Once a Week, OK?

Is Once a Week, OK?

Being a diabetic has its restrictions
But the main rule is, ‘everything in moderation’

I love homemade cheesecake
Especially the ones they make
At the Moorabool Valley Chocolate Cafe
Their irresistible strawberry cheesecakes
Are on the better side of scrumptious

Frankie does not have any dietary problems
So, he over-indulges on a strawberry
And the crunchy biscuit base
While I relax with my cafe coffee
And write another pleasure-loving poem

I’m a Full-Moon dog

But not the sad howling type

I smile, then lick you

Creative Geelong, “Market Day, and the Untethered Gallery”

Yesterday was the Creative Geelong Market Day, which allowed me to inspect the newly opened “Untethered Gallery”, also a part of the Geelong Creative’s Makers Hub.

“I’ll let my photos tell the story”

Firstly, at the Market, I enjoyed a friendly and successful day. My “Poem, Lucky Dip Bucket” was again very popular, and I also sold some of my “Books”

Secondly, I strolled 20 paces down the Arcade to visit the impressive newly opened “Untethered Gallery”, a truly outstanding venue for the Creative Geelong Makers Hub. The photos are of the Gallery and the Creative Geelong artist’s wonderful exhibits

The Universe Waits (a Tanka)

Into the mystic
Above the trees and beyond
The universe waits
Until blind eyes hear the sound
Of The reawakening

Your response will be sent to the Queenscliff Maritime Museum for display as part of the museum’s celebration of International Lighthouse Weekend.”

Above Dark Waves (a Haiku)

The sea grows darker

Is the light glowing brighter?

Above these wide waves

Throwback Friday, Black Snow Thaws In The Winter Sun (Revised)

Today my ‘Throwback Friday’ poem, is from June 2019, and again, as is my way, I have slightly revised the original piece.

Black Snow Thaws In The Winter Sun (Revised)

I’ve no more secret words of sorrow
Only old lines I’ve borrowed
I found them in a poet’s dusty booklet
The pages were tattered, like Grandma’s cookbook
Hidden in the family’s sacred cabinet
Faded words that now appear outdated
Years of love and dreams relegated
Stored away, but prudently not wasted

My road ahead is now cleared of black snow
The night is not always dark, you know?

The Moon’s Podium

The Moon’s Podium

The Olympics are over
Now! Is an appropriate time
For our ancient and humble moon
To accept the shiniest medal
For being the friendly games
All around the World, marathon champion
During the endless days and sleepless nights
Our timeless warrior of the sky
Was the competitors overseeing, quiet achiever

Henceforth I duly declare
The “All Nations” podium belongs to the moon
For today, tonight, and all of our tomorrow’s
