My Broomstick (a Tanka)

My Broomstick (a Tanka)

The afternoon moon
Peers into my room, and says
“Where is your broomstick?
Twilight is beckoning you
To fly beyond your self-doubts”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. I find your poem beautiful, sweet, and heart-touching, Ivor! Beautiful photos and song choice, too! A lovely trio!
And I am so glad that the moon is so good to all of us…if we will just remember to listen and commune with the moon. πŸ™‚ I’m so glad the moon is an encouraging force. It shines brightly even during its waning phases, reminding us Human-Beans that we can still inspire other people even when we feel less than perfect (or less than full πŸŒ•).
