Snowflakes and the Snowman

Hi, dear readers and followers. As you know, it’s summertime down under in Australia, however this morning I read a lovely poem “Snowpeople”, written by Gigi >> https://gigisrantsandraves.wordpress.com/2024/12/09/snowpeople-2/
Her thoughtful and enchanting poem prompted me to write this poetic response as my comment to her wonderful post.
** Sorry, but it doesn’t snow in Geelong, so I have no suitable snow photos to accompany today’s article. My “moonman’ photos from this evening will have to suffice.

Snowflakes and the Snowman

Snowflakes float down
And gather on the ground
Without making a sound

The gathering becomes a white field
The field’s enchanting appeal
Cannot be concealed
As crafty snowballs gather and expand
Merrily creating a mystical snowman

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Aw, your poem is so so so sweet and beautiful! And the perfect pairing with Sia’s song!

I enjoy winter and I love when we get snow. Watching snowflakes dancing down is so peaceful and so beautiful! And, yes, going out the next morning I see snow-people who showed up over night, and I see the amazing artistic creations the snow made as it blankets all of nature and all human-made objects. 🙂 ‘Tis a wonderland of smiles! 🙂
