Today’s Throwback Friday poem was written in May 2020.
Togetherness
I remember
Bringing you two into my house
And quietly I sat with you
Upon my courtyard bench
You were both
Dry and lifeless
I lovingly prepared your beds
And gently tucked you two in
Wishing you a bright and prosperous future
Under my watchful eye
Together you flourished and adorned my home
And together your arms reached out
Embracing each other
Now, we live here together as one

Show your plants some love and they will reward you abundantly. Isn’t that the same with all living creatures? Thank you for the beautiful pix, a lovely poem and the moving voice of Tom Waits, dear Ivor. Have a glorious day!

such a tender hearted poem Ivor, I could connect with your love for plants and of course I really admired your little garden with its abundant greenery. your poem brought to mind this quote from a book I treasure – βIn some Native languages the term for plants translates to βthose who take care of us.β by Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass. The plants were showing their gratitude to you.

Awww he does love his little spot in the sun. And he’s ever watchful of your moves because he’s waiting for walkies time! May your garden continue to thrive and prosper and encourage you.

I’m running out of places to reply. I bet all of your sunflowers are happy. When they are finished growing the birds love their seeds. They are such beautiful, happy and strong flowers. Enjoy your summer. We are supposed to have a “winter storm” over the weekend. That could mean anything.

Beautiful photos and poem!
They thrive under your tender loving care! I’m sure you talk to them, too. I talk to my plants (the indoor ones AND the outdoor ones). π
In my life time, some of my fave bestest friends have been trees, plants, and flowers. π They are betterer than a lot of human-beans. π
I love when plants and trees reach out to each other with their “arms” and hold “hands”. π
GREAT song by Mr. Waits! π

Thank you for your lovely words, Carolyn … and my sentiments exactly, I am always talking to my “mates” in the garden, and this morning, when I was watering my sunflowers and tomatoes, they all broadly smiled at me … ππ»π πππ΅πΆ
