Resuming the Climb

Resuming the Climb

From beyond the grand universe of mime
The eternal wings of time
Embraced the muse of my rhymes
Rewinding my heartstrings’ chime

Words cascade onto my blue lines
And valiantly my soul resumes the climb

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. Always a pleasure, dear Ivor. 🥰

PS – While I was out earlier today, I overheard a woman telling a friend about her visit to the NY Botanical Gardens where she saw the Corpse Flower. I told the woman about your trips to watch the life cycle of the flower; she said one visit was enough for her because it smelled so bad! I thought you’d be interested in this little story. 🪴

  1. Tame Impala is one of my favoutrite bands and on my bucket list to see them perform live lol!! I love the exuberance of your poem Ivor. I could feel your soul soaring with each line. You always inspire me with how you write such magical words for life’s simple joys.

    1. Actually the Tame Impala song helped me change the 2nd line, from ‘winds of time’ to read ‘wings of time’ … it’s only a 6 line poem, but it took me all of the day to get right … thank you for your very kind and generous words, Gina 😊🌏📘😍

      1. I keep forgetting he is a solo artist and not a band, the name always confuses me! But he is an amazing lyricist and I am glad you picked up on his “wings of time” they enhanced your poem just right. HAHAHA! I know about it taking all day Ivor, sometimes all night too right?!!

  2. Onward! Upward! Keep climbing! Such an encouraging poem, Ivor!
Some days we can only climb a little…some day we climb a lot…even the small climbs are so hopeful, so important, so inspiring!
