Today’s Throwback Friday poem is from February 2023 and appears in Chapter 1 of my third book, Until Eyes Hear Sound, titled ‘Little Creatures and the Birds.’
“Birds have commandeered my poetic imagination lately.“
Birds on Fences
What side of the fence
do you sit on?
Birds perched on fences
look down on the earth
The grass is not always greener
on the other side
Is there ever
a winning side
or a losing side
Worms burrow holes
on both sides
Shadows grow longer
under the one sun
Dawn rises on the dark side
and the sun sets on the bright side
Birds on fences know
“That the mystery of our universe
Can be found in a blade of grass”

Beautiful!

Beautiful! Nature IS wise! We human-beans need to pay more attention.
It’s such a joy to watch birds. 🙂

I think the birds are very good to me, as they kindly pose for my camera! … Leonardo da Vinci was very inspired by ‘birds’ and he understood how magnificent they were … 😍❤💕🦅🕊

A lovely poem, Ivor. I’m behind on reviews writing (I have 9 to do) but I am trying to do one a day to get caught up. Hugs.

A lovely and wise poem, Ivor. Today, it’s snowing where we live and our fine feathered friends are taking shelter on our balcony. ❄️🐦❤️

You’re welcome, Ivor. It’s fun to watch the birds bicker over the food in their feeder.
