Throwback Friday, Dragonfly, Natureโ€™s Guardian Eye

Featured Image: my dragonfly photo from Thursday.

Yesterday I successfully photographed a Dragonfly in flight, which inspired me to post today’s Throwback Friday poem, “Dragonfly, Nature’s Guardian Eye”.

Below are Images, from 19th March 2023: I am thrilled to say that the attached photos are mine, and they are my first-ever successful photographs of Dragonflies โ€ฆ

Dragonfly, Natureโ€™s Guardian Eye

Long before homo sapiens overachievers
You were the swampโ€™s incorruptible believer
Overseer of the planetโ€™s rivers and valleys
The weary worldโ€™s ardent ally

Long before the floundering Ark
You were our wisest Monarch
Overseer of the forestโ€™s unpolluted sky
Natureโ€™s sprightly guardian eye

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you Nancy โ€ฆ I finally learnt how not to chase them, but to stand still and let them buzz around you and just randomly snap lots of photos, hoping they’ll be in picโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Delightful photos and poem! ๐Ÿ™‚
And THAT song…Such a deep meaningful song that reminds me that I’ve learned so much from the pain (emotional, physical, etc.) in my life and it’s helped me to grow, be stronger. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you for your very comprehensive comments, Carolyn โ€ฆ I think dragonflies are a regal part of our eco-system and they fly around so vibrantly and I think they believe in themselves and what their purpose is โ€ฆ and the โ€œImagine Dragonโ€™sโ€ emotional song was perfect for my poem ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ“˜๐Ÿ’•

  2. Delightful poem and great captures, Ivor. The dragonfly is generally associated with the symbolic meaning of transformation, and connection with natureโ€™s spirits, fairies realms. โœจ๐Ÿ’–
