A Blade of Light

A Blade of Light

Far beyond my darkest night
Clambering out of purgatory’s deepest void
I grasp onto a single blade of light
On the edge of my soulless asteroid
Who rescues me from Armageddon’s endless fight

Awaking in a pool of sweat, just after midnight
This meaningless nightmare gave me a hellish fright

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you very much, Nancy … the video was a lucky find, I was searching for a song by “Solstafir” an Icelandic band who have some ‘dark’ songs that might suit my poem, but in doing so I happened upon this film clip called ‘The Light of Solstafir’ and I had a look and wow ❗ It was very intriguing and I thought ‘this is perfect’ 📘💙🌏😎

  1. WOW! A very dramatic post, Ivor! I love the street art, the photo, the video, and especially the poem.

My nightmares are never so vivid, and the problems are never resolved. I have recurring dreams about when I was teaching. In the dreams, I come to class unprepared and failing miserably. The dream wakes me up, shaken.

In real life, I was always well-prepared! No one is perfect; we all make mistakes, but I believe I was a fairly good teacher. Robert has similar nightmares about working in the lab!

Lucky you that your dream had a beam of light that came to your rescue! I love this beautiful post that evolved from a nightmare.

Wishing you pleasant dreams and tranquil sleep! 💤💕🎶🦋 🌈

  2. Such nightmares are so scary! 😮 And it takes a bit after waking up from them to settle down and breathe normally again. I’m so glad you had that beam of light to guide you and comfort you. 🙂
I always enjoy seeing street art, murals, even some well done graffiti!
    Such a powerful video/music!
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️
