Below My Crown

Below My Crown

Deep into the Twilight Zone
At that moment above the horizon
When the sun is sliding down
Underneath his eiderdown

Nature dons her noble crown
And declares to everyone in town
“There’s no need to be a sad clown
or wear a worried frown.
Take your time to have a look around,
the world is not falling down”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Oh, Nancy, I didn’t mean to steal your heart … I was just writing some happy thoughts to ‘cheer’ myself up … I suppose the piece is a metaphor for what’s going on inside my head (below my crown) and despite being a clown with a frown, my world is not falling down … πŸ’›πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŽπŸ’™πŸ“˜

  1. Peace is, always going to be found, in, nature, but, unfortunately, we humans, don’t, appreciate, the beauty, the gifts that are free, offered to us by, her, and humans, continue to, take, to exploit, Mother Nature.

  2. Your poem speaks to me.
I wanted to stop by and let you know that little old Coop died in my arms 2 days ago. He fought long and hard and stayed with me as long as he could, but then it was time for him to go.
I put up a very short WP post about it and will do a longer post about him in a few days.
You have always been so kind through the years, asking about Coop and sending him message of love from you and Frankie, so I wanted to let you know of his passing.
