The Grey Afterglow

The Grey Afterglow

Yesterday
My world was a tomb
Today
I fled my room
Away
From the gloom

Out there
The sky was grey

Do you know?
Not all clouds have dull shadows
Rainbows know how to play the banjo
Sunflowers can grow in the snow
And all birds enjoy putting on an airshow
In the middle of Natureโ€™s achromatic afterglow

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Incredible photos, Ivor! The light behind the clouds is spectacular! What a heartwarming poem! How often do we sit inside missing out on the beauties of a grey day? ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’› ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฉต ๐Ÿ’œ

  2. If only, you look, closer, into the, grays, you will realize, that, gray isn’t actually, pure, gray, that, it has, hues and, hints of, other colors, hidden within, but, more often than not, we get, too, trapped by, what we’re, stuck in, we can, see, beyond what’s, immediately right in front of us. And we get, STUCK.

  3. Your photos and poem are heart-touching and hopeful and encouraging. I often to to nature to find some peace, heart-healing, and joy. I find gray to be serene sometimes and it makes all the other colors so much brighter and cheerful.
