Flying Among the Clouds

Over at Weekly Prompts, the Wednesday Challenge is the word Stodgy. You can visit their fabulous site by clicking on >> Here
My poem “Flying Among the Clouds” is definitely not Stodgy.

Flying Among the Clouds

I’m flying high
Cruising among the clouds
Fly with me
And the rest of my flock
Up here
There’s no need for a clock

Time gives no commands
Cruising among the clouds
Silently overseeing the crowd

Time always flies
At the same standard pace
There, in that space
Between daytime’s silvery moon
And twilight’s glittery sun

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. “Fly with me
And the rest of my flock
    Up here
There’s no need for a clock”

This is my favorite part of the poem, Ivor. Hearing the first geese of spring, it urges me to “fly” outside, be in the newness of a coming spring, and forget about the clock.

  2. It’s so important experience the world this way. Poetry is one way we can do this. ❀️ thanks for reminding me to soar above it at all at least for a while every day. Take care of your beautiful heart, Ivor.

    Not stodgy, indeed! πŸ™‚
A wonderful, kind, helpful reminder that the sky is always there…the birds are welcoming…and we can choose to fly in our minds and hearts! πŸ™‚ Up, up and away! Thank you for inspiring us to fly with you today! πŸ™‚
