Ambidextrous Birds (a Tanka)

Ambidextrous Birds (a Tanka)

From out of the clouds
Or flying among the trees
Ambidextrous birds
Perched calmly or soaring free
Are Nature’s trapeze artists

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Great photos, dear Ivor! Love the idea of ambidextrous birds; they certainly are! I wonder …. are you? I most definitely am not! I just tried to move a house plant with my left hand and managed to drop the poor little thing on the floor. What a mess! Repotting time! 💛🧹💚🪴🖤🦅

  2. Oh, they sure are! Birds definitely are nimble-y skilled! 🙂
What a brilliant and interesting parallel, Ivor! Next time I bird watch I will see them trapeze-ing. 🙂
    Beautiful photos!
Your amazing song choice touched my heart. I listened to it twice. I find it so relatable…and it, also, gives me encouragement and hope. Thank you.

    1. Wow, thank you for your lovely words, Carolyn … haha, I’m not feeling very ambidextrous at the moment … 7.00 pm Sunday evening here in Ballarat, and we are in bad resting are weary bones… 2 long days at the Clunes Booktown Festival, and we’ll both be asleep very quickly … oh, Mike Scott’s is lyrically so beautiful and nostalgic, and it seemed very appropriate for my reflective poem … whoops… my sleepily eyes are barely open 🤗😍🌏📘😴
