Yesterday evening I attended the opening of a unique Costume Exhibition, curated by Andrew Delaney, at the ‘Untether Gallery’ in Geelong. The transcripts about the show are attached below to help you understand what the “Frankenstein, Life, Death, Life” exhibition was about.
In 1825 a play based on Mary Shelley’s infamous novel Frankenstein was staged in the Theatre Royale in Drury Lane. It was banned after only three performances and the costumes stored away …

      1. That was a fantastic read! I love how the artist embraces the belief that something does not have to be ‘pretty‘ to be beautiful. His process for creating this particular exhibit is extremely interesting and I very much enjoyed reading about it. I also loved his moving description of cobwebs draped over a child’s long-abandoned toy to signify that time and life carry on. You are very fortunate to have such a stimulating display to visit. Thank you for a remarkable share, dear Ivor! 🥰

Yes, it was a remarkable display … the baby even had real little money spiders 🕷️ crawling through its scalp, the Town Jacket was covered in real lichen/moss … all the costumes had their own unique individual quirks … a once in a lifetime event, and I was so fortunate to be one of the guests at the special opening night … 😊🌏📖😍

    Mr. Delaney’s other exhibitions listed there sound fabulous as well!
    I’ve always enjoy anything to do with Frankenstein…the Shelley book, and the movies through the years.

  9. How very cool! That would have been an awesome exhibition to attend. Rocky Horror Picture Show! I attended my first theatre movie/audience participation show when I was in my early 20s! Can’t believe it’s been 4o years ago now. Classic. 🙂
