An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
A Lonely Crescent Moon
A Lonely Crescent Moon
Today is one of those days Sitting here, at the city by the bay** Watching daylight’s grand display
The salt water is pearly and lyrical The sea air is clean and soothing The whispering breeze is gentle and cool The sky is a velvety blue The hovering clouds are fluffy and white The sunshine is pure and warm
And my lonely crescent moon Is expecting me home soon
** City by the Bay, Geelong, Australia, sits on the shores of beautiful Corio Bay, just 73 kilometres southwest of Melbourne.
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

And a grand display it is! There’s something so special about seeing the pale moon hanging in the clear blue daylight sky. Your photos capture the feeling beautifully, the blend of words and music transporting me to Corio Bay. What a delight, dear Ivor! 😎✍🏼🎶🌤️🌙🌏💛
Wowza, what a fabulous poem! Your descriptions are vibrant, the emotions, too. 🙂 What a beautiful place to sit, be, breathe, and smile. 🙂 Did Frankie sit with you?
And after sittin’ a spell, you can go home and commune with the moon. 🙂
Lovely photos! 🙂
A fave song/vid you shared! 🙂

PS…San Francisco, CA is often called The City by the Bay, too. I loved living there! 🙂
And I love living in Geelong, Carolyn … Frankie was sitting there beside me looking happy and contented’ just like me … Oh, the Otis Redding song is an all-time classic and fav’ of mine too …

Thank you very much, Cindy, … Frankie was with me, and the ‘lonely crescent moon’ could a metaphor for my dear Carole … “my lonely Carole is waiting for me to return home” 💕
